Fall in Chicago

Well it is getting chilly here in Chicago. We have been having some nice days but a lot of rain. Every once in awhile we have a sunny fall like day. They seem to be landing on Sunday which is nice since it is Jeremy's day off. Lawson is getting more and more active and lively. He is scooting all over the apartment. He is not yet crawling but he is scooting quite quickly. He really likes to go after Nougat and Hoss. Here is an example of his scooting:

We took Lawson to the park for the first time. We put him on a swing. He wasn't too sure if he liked it. It almost put him to sleep a couple times. When we started to swing higher he lightened up a lot. We even got a couple giggles.
Here are some photos from swinging and the park:

Winter is coming quickly we are sad to say. Soon we will experience Lawson's first snow.

6 Months!!

Lawson is 6 months old. We can't believe that he has been here for half a year. It has gone by so fast. This weekend our good friend Melissa was in town with her fiance Aaron. We went to Millenium Park, it was rainy all day but we toughed it out. On Sunday we went to a pumpkin patch with some friends of Melissa and Aaron. It was a windy day but we did have some fun. Lawson has not slept through the night once since we have been here, so that is no fun, but we are getting closer to sitting up on our own.
Here are some photos from our weekend

Lincoln Park Zoo 9-20-09

YAY the Zoo!!

We went to the zoo yesterday on Jeremy's day off. The Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the last zoos in the country that is free to the public. And though it was cloudy the rain stayed away until we left. Though Lawson did manage to sleep almost the entire time, Jeremy and I had fun. We realized that Hoss is not only part Lama, and part deer but he must have a little Kangaroo in him as well, making him a Kangalamadeer Chihuahua. We had a nice time walking around, we were going to visit the Botanical Gardens but alas it started to rain. Maybe another day.
Here are some pics from our day-

Chicago Week 1

Hello all, well we have survived week 1 in Chicago. We are 95% settled. We went to a Cubs game the other night. Lawson's first baseball game. And needless to say he did not have fun. He spent the whole night like this:

He cried and cried and cried. We think he was upset because he wanted to see the Yankees but ended up seeing the Cubs.
Our Condo is coming along. It is still small but we have managed to be a little creative, and it is pretty livable. Here are the views from the condo:
Wrigley Field

Sears Tower

The weather is starting to turn to fall here, which is nice. There is a nice park very close to the condo which I will try to take Lawson to often.

We are going to go to the Lake this weekend so there will be some new photos after that. Otherwise here are some photos of Lawson from our going away BBQ and his new high chair.

Chicago Here We Are

Well we have made to Chicago safe and sound and...tired. Not Lawson, he slept for 14 hours. Jeremy and I are running on fumes. He did so great on the drive. Mostly because we drove overnight to not screw up his sleeping schedule. It worked, he is sleeping soundly in his pack and play. We are getting settled into our very small condo. The whole place is the size of our living room in Maplewood, but we will manage just fine. We have a view of Wrigley Stadium and we can also see the Sear's tower. I will post photos soon of our great neighborhood and our little place.

Long and Lean

We had our 4 month check up the other day. Vaccines...BOO. However Lawson is 27 and 5/8 inches long! That is in the 99th percentile for 4 month olds. He is off the chart. And he is about 15 and 1/2 pounds which is just above average. And no matter how often I say how bug his head is, he is just above average in head size. So... anyone have a basketball small enough for a 4 month old?

I always post pictures of Lawson...so here are some of the other loves in our life:

New Car!

The Wahlers have a new car. It is a 2008 Ford Taurus:

It is sooo much bigger than what we are used to. It can sit up to 6 and it is like a tank. Lawson likes it very much. He can see out the window in his car seat. It is very safe for ever expanding family. And should make the drive to Chicago much more cushy than taking the Nissan. We have found out that buying a car in NJ sucks!!! But Jeremy made it through and we couldn't be happier with our new purchase. Anything to stimulate the economy right? It does make us feel a little more "suburban" but so far suburban life is agreeing with us as you can see by Jeremy's 'I love lawn shirt'. He does love taking care of the yard and it shows!

Day Care!!!

We started day care yesterday at Little Stages in South Orange. So far so good. He cried when Daddy dropped him off but again the pacifier saved the day. According to the daily sheet we get from the ladies at Little Stages, he was happy and content the whole day. So he really is a very good baby. Jeremy and I are so lucky. Lawson has been sleeping very well and slept through the night last night. YAY!

Jeremy and I are still looking for a place in Chicago to rent for the time we are there. We have found some good options now if we could just decide...

Otherwise things are pretty chill on the Wahlers front. We are going car shopping this weekend, so Lawson might have a new car soon.

Day Care trial

7-30-09
Yesterday Lawson had his half day-day care trial. I was so worried, not because I am being a neurotic Mom, but because I was worried he would misbehave and they would come back and say "Sorry Ms. Wahlers we can't handle your child". Well alas, he did very well. Dad dropped him off and he got a little upset, but Dad diffused the situation with the life saver we call a pacifier. Lawson was a joy according to the ladies at Littel Stages. Lawson even had a trip to the library. Dad got some projects done at home. So all around it was a successful day. Next week it is all day Tues, Weds, and Thurs. We'll see how that goes.

Here are some new fun pictures of the little man, chillin like Daddy
